my experiences in the world of online matchmaking

11.18.2005

nothing to report

I realize I've been negligent in posting here lately, but there just hasn't been much of anything to say, despite the fact that I've renewed my membership and am able to communicate with my matches should I chose to do so. But I just haven't had a lot of matches lately. And the matches I do get have usually closed down communication by the time I log in to take a look at them, so it hardly seems worth the bother of writing about them. Believe me, if there was anyone really appalling I'd post about them. But there hasn't been, so therefore, nothing new tossed on the frogpile. Sorry!

all's quiet

I've had a couple new matches in the past week or so, but nothing terribly exciting. In fact, most of them have closed me down before I even logged on and saw I had new matches, so that doesn't bode well.

Even though I've extended my membership through January with one of their 3-months-for-the-price-of-one deals, my heart's not really in this right now.

new additions - 10/26

I'm stuck at home waiting for the cable guy, so I figured I might as well post an update. Nothing too exciting.

# 1026-01 from High Point, NC - the first picture he has posted looks like a mugshot. Not because he's got numbers on his chest or anything, it's just that it's head-on and he's not smiling or anything. He has other pictures of himself horseback riding and running in marathons as well. Seems a decent sort but he's kind of far away and looks a little too much like my dad for comfort. Rating: 2 frogs

# 1026-02 from Oxford, MI - in this guy's photo, the first thing you think is "art student." He's got a rather large mop of hair and he's wearing a sweater vest and leaning against the doorway, and something about it just screams, "art student!" Turns out he's an art instructor, according to his profile, so first impressions in this case aren't far off. His last book was the dreaded DaVinci Code, but then he says he "found the ending anticlimatic given the hype surrounding this book." So that is sort of a good sign, which is immediately eradicated by the fact that he says his favorite books are The Five People You Meet in Heaven and Tuesdays with Morrie. His entire profile is just slightly off - he reads, but he reads junk; he wants to get another dog, but he specifically wants a Shih-Tzu. I don't have anything against Shih-Tzus specifically, I'm just against getting bred dogs. So it's like all down the line he's sorta okay, but the details are all wrong. Rating: 2 frogs
